Pikes Peak

We had a BLAST at Pikes Peak. Shawn and I...no kids...got to hang out with our good friends Dawn and Steve Martenz for the day while they were in town for the weekend. It was so nice to be able to catch up without being interrupted a million times. We could actually talk about the kiddos without them getting all silly nilly when they hear us! It was fantastic! Okay so back to Pikes Peak. We rode the Cog Railway to the top....yup all 14,110 ft. I felt like I was on top of the world. At one point we could have been in a scence from Sound of Music. It is really pretty up there... But thin air. I had a hard time breathing and I got really dizzy any time I exerted even a little energy. Can you believe there are people who hike up there... maybe one day we will. Right?!?! While we were up there there was a storm that blew and and dropped SNOW!!!! yep SNOW in July!!!! It was COOL! Actually it was COLD!!!! They were also doing some kind of car race, where all different types of cars race up the mountain to see who gets there first. THey go one at a time ....doesnt that make it safe? They said the guy who holds the record went around a switchback at 77 mph! Shawn says next year he'll race the Tracker!

After we explored Pikes Peak we headed to Garden of the Gods for a little rock climbing...

no that's not us....but aren't they amazing! It is another of God's beautiful creations. We were in awe!

It is always nice to get to see our AF Family... thank you Dawn and Steve for a great Sunday! Come back SOON!!!!

Beautiful, beautiful! I remember being a passenger in a van heading up Pike's Peak about 20 years ago. My friend and her mom (her dad was driving) were in little balls with their eyes closed. They kept asking to turn around. I thought it was fantastic. I think I've become a chicken since then! :) Garden of the Gods is amazing, isn't it??!! I'm glad you guys had some grown-up time!
