It seems like yesterday that I was writing a post about our Kalei girl going off to Kindergarten. But it was a year ago and now I writing about her being a 1st grader!
Kalei started 1st grade 3 weeks ago and LOVES it. She is in school all day, 845am-330pm. This has been an adjustment for me, mostly because I got used to my girl coming home form Kindergarten at 1100am. Boy do I miss her and how happy I am when I get to pick her up! She has lots of stories to share, but the BIGGEST news of all was she gets 2 recesses! TWO! That makes her so happy!
Kalei was reluctant to start 1st grade. She wanted to stay in Kindergarten with her teacher and come home for lunch. She got so upset the day before school started she was in tears! But her daddy came to the rescue. He called her right when she was waking up on the first day of school and they talked for about 20 minutes. Sure enough when they were finished talking she was ready to go! His magic with her is so special!
I am still a firm believer that 1st grade is the best! I wish I was her teacher! But I know her teacher is doing a great job because she comes home happy and is ready to go back everyday! Hooray for good teachers!

Congratulations, Kalei! We went through the same situation with Anna. She was going into first grade in a new school and the tears were plentiful...hers and mine. I'm glad that Kalei is so happy. I'm also glad she gets the TWO recesses! That's so sweet.
That last year did fly by! Reading about her daddy's magic brought a happy little tear to my eye!
