Living so far away from our family is especailly hard at the holidays, but we have been so blessed with so many wonderful friends here in beautiful Colorado. We are also getting some very special visitors... gigi and pipo for Christmas, granma for Alice's 3rd birthday and uncle Brett, Aunt Teresa, Hayden and Charlotte in March!
We have a lot in store for the new year... a deployment for Shawn, a growing bow business for me, Kalei will be playing soccer, finishing Kindergarten, joining swim team in the summer, and staring first grade in July... Alice will be moving on to her own gymnastic class...no more mommy and me...:(, she will be starting dance again, and she will be going to preschool. We also have a few trips lined up one before Shawn heads out and me and the girls will probably head to Florida and DC while he is gone. So we have many adventures ahead!
We look back at 2009 fondly. We started it off together! After 6 months apart it was AWESOME to be together again! We moved to this beautiful state of Colorado and we got a great house! I joined a MOMS Club that has proven to be a great place for a social butterfly to meet friends for a lifetime! The girls settled in so nicely to school, play and daily ins and outs that it seems that God's hands were involved in the move away from family. Kalei started Kindergarten and we were blessed for her to get an AMAZING teacher. Alice started Child's Day Out and she was blessed to get 2 AMAZING teachers as well. So many wonderful people have come into our lives since we moved here. When we first arrived I thought I will never have friends like I did at Beale... even though I didnt get an instant family like we did at Beale, we have one now. School friends, BUNCO ladies, MOMS Club mommies, gymnastic friends, soccer moms, it is amazing how people can change your life... really! Moving to CO has afforded us the opportunities to see some of the most beautiful of God's creations. Pikes Peak, Rocky Mountain National park, Red Rocks, snowboarding in Breckenridge, camping in Grand Lake, hiking in El Dorado Canyon State Park and so much more!
Finally I have to say that the saddest part of 2008 was losing our Hershey. It was the hardest thing we have had to go through as a family. I thought I would never stop crying... but it is amazing how God can heal a heart... a family's heart... with time... 2009 brought Luck into our lives wih Lucky. It wasnt long after we moved into our house that I felt like something was missing. Lucky was one of our first blessings in 2009... and even though she loves to tear out the garbage and bark like crazy... she is perfect for our family and we are Lucky to have her in our lives!
2010 will pass in a blink of an eye, I am sure... my goal is to slow down and take in more of the quiet moments...
Wishing you all safe travels this holiday season and lots of LOVE!!!!

Love
Shawn, Shelly, Kalei, Alice Mae, and Lucky
